In the late 90s, I was attending a conference in California. While I was in my hotel room, I felt such an overwhelming heaviness and emotions, that I started crying. It was a very unsual experience for me.
I felt like I was in a dungeon. While feeling this dark feeling, I reached out to God in prayer, asking Him, "what is going on with me". I heard in my spirit God telling me, "Start praising me". I then started singing various praise songs. As I sang I felt like I was lifted off the dungeon and lifted off the ground. It was so real that I had to look down to see if my feet were lifted off the ground. When I checked, I saw that my feet were still on the ground.
I also saw oil all over the walls. It was also so real that I had to go touch the walls to see if there is oil on the wall. When I touched the walls, I didnt feel any oil on the wall. That was when I realized my feeling of being lifted off the ground and seeing the oil on the wall is symbolic. It was representative of the Holy Spirit. It dawned on me that during my time praising God, He came to my aid. Indeed, as the word of God says, God inhabits the praises of His people.
Praise is one of the weapons of warfare that we can use to defeat the attacks of the enemy. Many believers don't realize the power of praise. If we use this powerful weapon more we will experience more victories in our lives. We see an example of the power of praise in Acts 16:25 when Paul and Silas were put in prison. At midnight, they prayed and sang praises. Afterwards, there was an earthquake that shook the foundation of the prison and caused the chains on them to break. If we praise God in the middle of our problems, we will
experience deliverance just like they did.
