Using the Fire of God in Spiritual Warfare

There are several weapons that are available to us as believers. One of them is the weapon of FIRE - The Fire of God. In the book of 2 kings 1:9-15:

9Then the king sent unto him a captain of fifty with his fifty.(that makes 51 people) And he went up to him: and, behold, he sat on the top of an hill. And he spake unto him, Thou man of God, the king hath said, Come down.
10 And Elijah answered and said to the captain of fifty, If I be a man of God, then let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And there came down fire from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
11 Again also he sent unto him another captain of fifty with his fifty. And he answered and said unto him, O man of God, thus hath the king said, Come down quickly.
12 And Elijah answered and said unto them, If I be a man of God, let fire come down from heaven, and consume thee and thy fifty. And the fire of God came down from heaven, and consumed him and his fifty.
13 And he sent again a captain of the third fifty with his fifty. And the third captain of fifty went up, and came and fell on his knees before Elijah, and besought him, and said unto him, O man of God, I pray thee, let my life, and the life of these fifty thy servants, be precious in thy sight.
14 Behold, there came fire down from heaven, and burnt up the two captains of the former fifties with their fifties: therefore let my life now be precious in thy sight.
15 And the angel of the LORD said unto Elijah, Go down with him: be not afraid of him. And he arose, and went down with him unto the king.

Here we saw Elijah calling down fire twice to consume the people who were sent to bring him down. Similarly, the fire of God is able to destroy every work of darkness that wants to bring us down.

As we pray, we can make use of the weapon of the fire of GOD. Now I want you to know something about the God we serve. The God we serve is a God of love. The God we serve is a God of compassion. The God we serve, is a good God, but that’s not all that there is about God. The same God that is a loving God is also a God of judgment. That same God is a God that will avenge his people. That same God is also a God of justice. And every now and then God will show his power and he will show his justice.

We see it in the life of Korah, Nathan, and Abirah, when the ground opened up and swallowed them. That same God of love that we talk about is also a God of judgment. And he saw if fit that these three people needed to be judged. Therefore he allowed the ground to open up and swallow them. So I’m saying to you that the same loving God that we know is also the same God judgment.

In our dealing with people, we should be loving, but in some cases we also need to call on the God of justice to bring down his judgment against those who are unfair and especially those who are using diabolical means to come against us and to destroy our lives. You see as a believer you don’t just shut up and allow your enemy to destroy your life. That why the bible says we are in warfare. And it says resist the devil. Someone who is resisting is not gentle, it not kind when they are resisting. They are not so loving when they are resisting. They are resisting because there is an enemy that is coming to steal, to kill and destroy, and you cannot afford to allow the enemy to come in and take what ever he wants to take.

Can you imagine someone you don’t know just coming into your living room and they just take whatever they want to take, and you just keep quiet and you let then just do whatever they want to do? NO that’s not the way it works. You will stand up to them ask How may I help you! What are you doing here? We don’t know you here! Get out of here! You wouldn’t allow them to take what belongs to you. The same way, you should not allow the enemy to continue to harass your life, or come against you. That’s why you need to send the FIRE of GOD against the enemies that are working against you, against those that are using diabolic and demonic means to come against your life, your family, your job and any other area of your life. You need to call down the fire of GOD upon them.
