Principles of Growth

The spiritual life has many similarities to the life of a new born baby. When a person accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, they are a new born baby spiritually. Just like an infant will need to be fed in order to grow, a new Christian will need to take several steps in order to grow spiritually. Here are five principles of growth. These steps must be taken in order to grow from being a spiritual infant to spiritual maturity.

Prayer
Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray so that you will not enter into temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak.”

Bible Reading and Study
1 Peter 2:2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby

Evangelism
Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Fellowship
Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Obedience
John 14:23 Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”
